Coin Banks

One of the basic things in life that my parents taught me is to work hard and save more if I want to buy something that is beyond my capacity. And I have proven that a gazillion times already.  From small things such as stationeries when I was a kid up to gadgets and appliances that I have bought myself thru hardwork and countless overtime work.

But of course there is still a lot in my list and since life is getting tougher everyday, financially speaking,  I have to find ways to get what I want without giving up what is essential.

Been trying to look for a source of extra income for the past months but, couldn't find any. So, I decided to try the old school way of saving instead. And here it is:

10's, 2's, 1's, .50's
Yeah, I know it will take forever to get these full but hey, there's no other best time to start but now! :)  And so far, I'm doing good! :) Just wait for me, PRADA :)

Banco Filipino

I can't remember exactly anymore when my Nanay and I had started business with them. But for sure, I was still a minor then because as far as I can remember, my first bank book cover shows Happy Savers' Club, a special Savings account exclusively for below 18 yrs of age.

For more than a decade, they've been a good bank for us.  The people were friendly, jolly and considerate.  But just like the old song says... "some good things never last...", the bank had to say goodbye for the 2nd time since it started in 1964 and it really breaks my heart...

A little tribute to an institution who had accepted us with just a little amount of fund to start with, helped it grow and kept it safe all these years...
Thank you...

On Moving Out

I never thought that moving out from one flat to another would cost us our souls.  Of course that was overstatement but what I mean is... argghh... imagine this.... 1 month advance, 2 months deposit, agent's fee which is worth a month of rental... that is a total of 4-month rental for one whole flat.  DAMN!!!!

Budget has been re-aligned, savings have been withdrawn.... time to tighten the belt until everything goes back to normal.

Don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more. ~ Luke 12:22-24

2010 - New Year's Resolution

Never been in my life that I had made a single New Year's Resolution 'coz I knew I wouldn't make it happen perfectly. Yeah, for me it should only be 0 or 1, yes or no, now or never. So, If I had a feeling that I couldn't give my all, I'd rather not try it anyway. I could win... I might lose... I could succeed... I might fail... nothing is definite, definitely! All I want is to give my best, whatever the reason would be.

2010..... this is the year for me to : TIGHTEN MY BELT!
for something worthwhile.....

and this is for real. ;)

Debit Card

I am in search of a best Debit Card in town. A debit card that I can use for online purchases and that won't require me to go to the bank and submit bulk of documents :) I've read about UOB, OCBC and DBS/POSB Debit Cards and since I already have an existing account with DBS, hopefully applying for a DC won't require me a lot of papers. I've checked its website and so far, for what I understand, I can apply online instantly! Hmmmm..... we'll see. But I have to make a decision ASAP so I can have it before the yeard ends.

So many plans for the coming year and having a DC will make it a little easier for me. I do have a CC but I think it would be best if I use a DC especially now that I want to explore on online purchasing. With this, I'd be able to control my spending and keep eveything within my budget. I hate overspending, though I haven't experienced it coz I always make sure that I only spend what I earn. With so many tempations left and right, getting a DC is the best option without depriving myself to live luxuriously (exag!!!! :D)

By the way, budgeting is my talent, second only to cooking.. nyehehehehe.... :P
