Mickey

Meet Macky's little sister...... and her cohorts ;))

Christmas 2008 Wishlist

At this time of the year, I am usually getting busy listing down what to give to my family, friends and officemates for the coming Christmas. And by the time that the 13th month pay is released, all I need to do is shop, shop and shop :D But since I am thousand miles away from home and won't be spending the holidays with my family for the first time, I'm just keeping myself busy about everything, except Holiday shopping :(

And when I say everything, that includes my own Christmas Wishlist. Here it goes:

1.
Oakley Breathless - got interested on this sunglasses while surfing the net during office hours early this year... :) found some good reviews about it and got to see it in some optical shops... too expensive, though.

2.
How to Mend a Broken Heart by Aleta Koman - do I have to explain why? :( I did some research online and this book is available only in Amazon. So, how in the world can I get this? I can't use my credit card 'coz it's not enrolled for online purchasing. I badly, badly need this. Can somebody help me please? :(

3.
iTouch - oh well, music + internet = superb! (Got this! :) )

4.
One More Chance DVD - such a wonderful movie, watched with a set of wonderful friends. I just can't get enough of Basha and Popoy to think that it's been a year since it was shown. And together with the #2 wish, this little piece might help me. (Thanks, Tabel!!! Thank you also for the Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus and the Lapid's hehehe.. :) )

5.
Philips Radio Clock - I had posted it here about my desire to get this.

6.
Belle de Jour 2009 Planner - I got some not-so-good reviews about Starbucks planner so I shifted my interest on this. Available only in Powerbooks. There's no Powerbooks here.

7.
Twilight Series - the series is composed of 4 books but since I already have the first, I'd wish for the other 3. Paperback will do :)

8.
Logitech Mini Optical Mouse - I fell in love with it the moment I saw it from a friend. Pink to be exact :)

9.
JOLLIBEE - haaayyy... I can't describe how much I miss jabee... :(( I even bought a Jollibee doll and brought it here. Kung pwede lang ipa-LBC ang mga langhap-sarap meals, nagpa-LBC na sana ako linggo-linggo.

SITEX 2008

This is the 2nd time I'd experienced this quarterly event here in SG. Unlike the first one, which happened last August, this time I really felt down into my bones that I was in an IT show! Hehehehe.... During the first time, my sole focus was to get the best Macbook offer from authorized Apple retailers, that's why I never looked into any other promotions: TVs, other laptops, cameras etc. Just spent 3 hours in Suntec, asked for a friend's friend's help to use her Citibank so I can pay installment and voila! Got my Macky :)

SITEX 2008 started last Thursday and will end today. Last friday, I accompanied Mitch during lunchtime at EXPO and she bought a Toshiba laptop with a lot of freebies! Canon printer, extended warranty, 4gb thumbdrive, optical mouse, slip case, laptop lock (I don't know if this is the right term, though :D ) and free upgrade to 2gb RAM. MS Vista is the OS by default.

After her, it's my turn to buy a Christmas gift for myself *wink*, an iPod Touch 16gb hehehehe... The freebies are: Silicon Case, Screen Protector, Speaker Case and a charger. Used my 3-day old Citibank Premier Miles credit card and now, Macky got a little sister :) Spent another 3 hours at the Expo on an office day (pasaway!) Even skipped lunch for this.

The following day, Saturday, I went back there and bought an 8gb Toshiba thumbdrive for S$24.90 and a 2gb Pendrive MicroSD for S$6.90. I quickly moved out of the hall after purchasing those 'coz I might not resist temptations anymore if I stayed longer.

Hopped to the adjacent hall for the John Little Sale. Bought some blouses for me and garments for my kuya and tatay. Also, this is the second straight day that I had skipped lunch.

Later in the evening, Mitch invited me to a friend's birthday party and stayed there 'til around 10pm. Stayed awake up until 2:30am to iron my clothes while watching Ugly Betty S1 :)

Finally, He's Mine!

Sorry if I wasn't able to introduce you perfectly to my friends. 'Coz I knew then that you were not yet mine really. I had to work hard and save some to make you mine and mine only :) Sorry if it took this long to let the world know how you were like, how we met, how I fell in love with you.

After 3 months of living in together, getting to know him better... making him part of my daily routine... I can now finally say, that he is mine!!!! :)

Friends, meet Macky.....

Barry Manilow CD Collection

Am watching Boy and Kris over TFC and they are paying tribute to Barry Manilow, his songs and contribution to the the music world. Kris mentioned, "his songs are for the martyrs and hopeless romantic... who are still hoping for love to come". Hmmm... I am not a Barry Manilow fan but I must admit I love his songs... Somewhere Down the Road, Even Now, Mandy, Weekend in New England... just to name a few. I remember singing these songs when I was in grade school hehehe....but now that I've grown up *wink*, I can now relate to his music. Hmmm.... any suggestions where I can find the BEST Barry Manilow CD Collection?

4. Cover my books.

Batam, Indonesia

It was supposed to be a Sunday trip to Batam, Indonesia with my colleagues from Lawson. But sudden change of plans moved it to yesterday, instead. I wasn't sure if I could join them since I had to report back to work last Thursday at 11pm and stayed there 'till past 12mn. Plus, I had a scheduled training from 9am-1pm the following day. Friday was a day off since this is a production weekend. We were supposed to rest the whole day to get enough energy for the weekend release which happens at 1am onwards of Saturday. Just before I went home last Thursday, I'd cancelled my enrollment to the training 'coz I thought I wouldn't be able to wake up early. Coming from a late night shift going to the training is not a good idea. But I just found out this morning that it was too late to cancel my enrollment and if the training center could not find a replacemet for me, it would cost 400sgd which is chargeable to the cost centre where I belong. Ok, goodluck to me!

And so I decided to join Marnie and company in their trip to Batam. At least, I didn't need to wake up so early. Met them in Harbour Front at 9:30 and took a 45-minute ferry ride to Batam. There was nothing special in the place. I did not even take a picture of anything when we were there. What I have are photos while we were in the ferry. We had lunch at a fastfood in Megamall (Yes, they have a Megamall also! :D), just across the ferry terminal. I tried one of their specialties, some kind of noodles that I forgot the name hehehe...it was good except that it was too spicy for me. After lunch, we rented a cab to bring us to some other malls. Hehehehe... puro malls talaga ang pinuntahan namin.... We asked the driver to bring us to Nagoya Hill, a bigger and better mall compared to Megamall (according to the locals there). He suggested to visit Ramayana instead because goods are much cheaper than the ones in Nagoya Hill. And so, after about 15 minutes, we found ourselves shopping for sandals, shirts, blouses for pasalubong and for ourselves. It was a quick trip really. I think we just spent 3 hours there 'coz they had to go back to SG for their Malaysia trip in the evening. And I have to report for work at 1am the following day. Badly needed some sleep before going to the office.

I'm still tired, sleepy and exhausted while typing this post. I'm a bit worried if the cost centre would ask me to pay for the cost of the training. I'm not quite sure if I did not commit any mistake in the release this morning. But I have no regrets at all. At least, for now.

Thanks to Marnie and my new-found co-gimikeras, Erika, Owey and Ana. Until the next trip! :)

-------------
Erika, I'll be waiting for the photos...specially the ones taken in the overpass :) Can't wait to see.

Cafe Cartel

What I like most about Fridays is that I get to treat myself to a sumptuous dinner. Whatever amount I had saved for the week, I make sure that part of it goes to pampering myself with great foods. Last Friday, I had Chicken Chef's Salad for my dinner from Cafe Cartel:

But I just could not get enough of Cafe Cartel... Yesterday, I went back there and had this for lunch...

St Louis Pork Ribs

*photos grabbed somewhere out there :)

Done!

Finally! After 3 months of making myself desperately busy dressing up my room, it is now a DONE business! :) But of course, I still have to put more stuffs here and there but basically everything that I need is now here :) Will post photos soon. For now, I'll take a well-deserved rest. Been getting and doing a lot since Friday not to mention 3 or 4 posts that I haven't published yet.

Plan

One day at the office, while the team was having its monthly meeting, our Manager reviewed the planned vacation leaves of the members. I was asked if I wouldn't be taking any leaves this year. I said, "Since I won't be going home this Christmas, can I just take a leave on the 24th of Octobersince it's my mother's birthday and i'll just return on Sunday, 26th?" Without any hesitations, my boss agreed right away and even suggested to extend my leave until Monday since Tuesday was a National Holiday. Wow!!!! I got so excited that I called Kuya Marlon (my mentor from Tsukiden) before I left the office and asked for a big favor. I asked if he could book me a reservation at CebuPacific online and even used his credit card. And before the day's end, I've already got a ticket!!!! Woohoooo!!!!! Super thanks, Kuya Marlon!

And my countdown began......

What made me so excited in going home was the surprise party that I had planned for my nanay. She'd be celebrating her 60th birthday and I wanted it to be super special. I decided to spend it in a restaurant that caters such special occasion. I only had one place in my mind, Max's Restaurant. So, I immediately inquired online and got a reply from them in 4 days. After about 2 months of preparation and with the help of the following people:

1. Ghena Austero - she answered all my inquiries regarding the available packages
2. Jun Olavidez - contact person from the branch

3. Kuya - for being the "liaison officer" hehehehe....

the party was a success :)

You may check more of my nanay's birthday party here and my Manila Vacation here.

No, I'm Not

I'm not that kind. I'd rather let you forget me than to be remembered as such. I guess, you just don't know me well.

I owe you a lot, mare :)

The Art of Letting Go

Put away the pictures
Put away the memories
I put over and over
Through my tears
I've held them till I'm blind
They kept my hope alive
As if somehow that I'd keep you here
Once you believed in a love forever more
How do you leave it in a drawer?

Now here it comes, the hardest part of all
Unchain my heart that's holding on
How do I start to live my life alone?
Guess I'm just learning,
Learning the art of letting go.

Try to say it's over
Say the word goodbye.
But each time it catches in my throat
You're still here in me
And I can't set you free
So I hold on to what I wanted most
Maybe someday we'll be friends forever more
Wish I could open up that door

Now here it comes, the hardest part of all
Unchain my heart that's holding on
How do I start to live my life alone?
Guess I'm just learning,
Learning the art of letting go

Watching us fade
What can I do?
But try to make it through
the pain of one more day
Without you

Where do I start, to live my life alone?
I guess I'm learning, only learning,
Learning the art of letting go

Drunk or Tipsy?

Just got back from a bonding session with Mitch. Had dinner at Sizzlers Suntec, St. Louis Baby Back Ribs and overflowing of salad and ice cream. Thank you Che for the treat! :) After a mouth-watering dinner, we decided to go shopping and went to Marina Square. But since it's already half past ten, most of the stores were already closed. We didn't want to go home this early so we walked and walked and walked and we just found ourselves in front of Balaclava, just beside Suntec Mall. We had 2 rounds of drinks. No sisig nor chicharon in the menu so we settled for cashew nuts (hmpf! ang jologs ng pulutan hehehe...). She had 2 tall glasses of Carlsberg and I had Konig Ludwig Weissbier and Singapore Sling. After so much discussion about life and life and life..... we called it a night just after the band finished their set.

Thanks, Mitch! I enjoyed the night and hopefully next time, videoke naman tayo.. ;) I'm very hopeful that soon we will both find what we are looking for :)

While writing this, I don't know if I am drunk or just tipsy. What do you think, guys? :)
