December Madness

Now that the much-awaited month of the year has come, I just couldn't find the exact words to perfectly describe the excitement that I feel. So many reasons to get thrilled and so many plans to fulfill.

And just as planned, I have already finished buying all the presents to be given away this Christmas for my family and friends. Some are already on its way to our home and some are still left here in my room.

With all the preparations and parties, the next 2 weeks will be the most busiest weeks of my life both at work and at home. At work because we need to deploy all the deliverables before the Global Change Freeze which will take effect on the 14th. At home because I need to prepare my stuffs in time for my Christmas vacation.

In two weeks time, I'll be spending the holiday season with my loved ones again. Happy. Excited. Happy. Excited.

Do I need to say more? :)

And I Love You So....

Oliver Cruz:
Suffering is an option, happiness is a choice.

Chris Panlilio:

Sometimes we lie because the truth hurts so much.

Mas importante ang naiwan kesa sa nang-iwan.

I don't want to be second place in your heart because you are first place in mine.

Lara Cruz:
I trusted you but you took advantage of me at alam mo kung ano ang pinakamasakit? Hinayaan kita!

You may love him longer but that doesn't mean I love him less....

but what if...

What if you sincerely believed something was true, but you were dead wrong? What if you were so stubbornly sure that you were right, that you wouldn't even consider the truth? Would the truth be silenced, or would it try to break through?

Bayanihan

Typhoon Ondoy did not just bring misery to the victims but most importantly, it once again became an instrument
for the Filipino people to show an overwhelming spirit at times of need. Yes, the Pinoys all over the planet proved
for the nth time that Bayanihan is still very much alive.

Sunday, a day after Ondoy struck Metro Manila and nearby provinces, I woke up hearing Kris Aquino's annoying yet
entertaining voice over TFC from the living room (with my bedroom door closed!). I wondered why at this early, around 9am,
Kris has been talking non-stop and though I couldn't understand what she was saying I knew there was something new
going on. I checked on my facebook and twitter and as expected, all the statuses and tweets were about the
destruction brought by Ondoy.

I went out of my room and was able to check on the program being aired on TFC. It was a fund-raising telethon
for the victims of the typhoon with Kris Aquino and Tina Monson-Palma leading the star-studded event.
It wasn't a surprise, though. Everytime a disaster hits my motherland, assistance from Non-Government Organizations
is becoming visible in just a snap of a finger. Cash and in-kind donations are pouring in, thanks to the convincing power of Kris
that a lot of sponsors had offered various help.

But what really surprised me are the countless stories of heroism and overwhelming support shown by numerous invididuals
from all walks of life.

1.
Judge on Jet Ski saves 100; teener dies after rescuing baby, 30 others

2. brave neighbor - Gerald Anderson
3. Local stars help storm victims
4. Soldier saves 20 before drowning in Laguna

And of course, more and more assistance kept pouring in from Filipinos all over the world. Here in Singapore, various sectors
had different means to help our kababayans back home. Credit Suisse launched a Jeans Day that will allow the employees
to wear jeans in a day and in exchange, they will provide monetary donation. Since CS offices are in 3 different locations, CS asked for volunteers for each area and I enthusiastically volunteered to be the coordinator at CBP 3F. And through this, I would like to extend my warmest thank you to all who helped, Pinoys and non-Pinoys.

Ondoy

It was supposed to be a weekend of fun and excitement, friends will be coming over from Philippines and Australia to watch the 2009 Singapore Formula 1 Night Race. But one Saturday afternoon, in the middle of our festivity, I've been getting text messages from my mother that the rain was non-stop for almost 10 hours and floods were pouring in some urban areas. I logged in to my facebook from Don's mac and I was really shocked when I saw the pictures of flooded areas from Araneta and Katipunan Avenues, cars floating like paper boats and the news that actress, Cristine Reyes was on top of the roof waiting to be rescued 'coz her house was, literally, in deep water. Here are some photos taken during Ondoy's suprised visit to the Philippines courtesy of Jr Lo from Facebook:

Ayala Underpass

The following day, Sunday, more and more pictures and videos were posted on the internet showing what Ondoy did to the metropolis, specifically in Pasig, Marikina and Cainta areas and only one word could describe it: FLOOD!

What really happened?

While browsing the photos, reading the news... I just couldn't believe that this has happened. Yes, flood is a common problem in the Philippines even without rain, but this one brought something that used to be unthinkable. Numerous houses were submerged in water from slum areas to posh villages.... walang pinili...

photos grabbed from the net from Anonymous uploader/s

As to date, the count of fatalities is at 277 and more than 40 are missing.

What's next?

And as expected, the Bayanihan spirit was all over the place again, which will be discussed in my next entry.

Faith

"God is good....for beyond the darkness, He gives us light, beyond our nightmares, He gives us dreams, and beyond our tears, He gives us comfort. So with this new day that He has provided, let us thank Him even if our plans fail and our expectations are not reached, for beyond these things is God's embrace saying...."My child, the path that I have laid for you is just beyond the corner. Take my Hand and just have FAITH."

relieved

what could be more relieving than knowing the truth and finding out that everything was a lie?

Count Check

It's already mid-September and yet this is only my 36th post for this year. Not even half of my total count last year. Hmmmm..... can I surpass my 2008 statistics?

Words of Wisdom ala Bob Ong

6. Ang pag-ibig parang imburnal nakakatakot mahulog at kapag nahulog ka, it’s either by accident or talagang tanga ka.

29.Walang taong manhid. Hindi niya lang talaga maintindihan kung
ano ang gusto mong iparating dahil ayaw mo siyang diretsuhin

giving

For every IT Show, PC Show, COMEX and SITEX...... I have always wanted to buy something.... PSP, WII, latest television model, iPod, DVD player, etc. but basically not for myself. I wish I had younger siblings... whom I can reward with these things for every good performance in school, for helping our parents in any household chore or simply just for being a responsible individual.

The New (Again) iPod Nano

Never had this nor this. Hopefully, I can make it this time.

A Forwarded SMS

Boy: I saw her. Still pretty and she looks so happy.
Girl: I saw him. I felt like crying but I won’t let him notice that.

Boy: I wonder if she’s now taken, maybe, she is.

Girl: I’m still single, can’t seem to find someone who could take his place.

Boy: I know she’s angry.

Girl: After all he’s done, I couldn’t get angry.

Boy: I’m coward not to choose her.

Girl: He was brave enough to choose the one he truly loves.

Boy: I regret it.

Girl: Wish he never left.

Boy: I love her but it’s too late, she doesn’t love me anymore.

Girl: I love him still but I should move on. =(

Diet-ing, the Second Time Around

Two months ago when I started planning to try something new on my diet. A month later, I found a way on how to lighten my food intake without totally giving up my usual cooking. No, I'm not overweight nor underweight, I just wanted to maintain my BMI at a normal level and eventually lose my unwanted fats and tone down my waistline. And so, apart from my weekly workouts, I decided to have a twist on my weekday meals:

Breakfast: Rice + any ulam + Iced Lemon Tea/Fruit Juice/Coke Zero/Iced Milk Tea + Gelatin with fruits (heavy huh!)

I usually prepare my breakfast the night before so I don't have to wake up so early in the morning. In this way, I can still cook my fave dishes: Adobo, Bistek, Kare-Kare, Sinigang na Hipon/Baboy, Picadillo and many many more.

Lunch: Gourmet Sandwich + Water + Any fruits

I'm very proud to say that I make my own Gourmet Sandwiches *wink*: Tuna/Mixed Ham /Sausage/Egg Sandwiches are just some of my tested recipes. I add on cheese, low-fat mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomato and cucumber.. Yumm-oo!!! Many thanks to Subway and The Sandwich Guy for giving me ideas :)

Dinner: NONE. But if I do starve, I drink milk or a piece of fruit at least 3 hours before bedtime. Sometimes a cup or cereal of oatmeal will do.

But on weekends, no limitations at all... just have to eat a little amount of each dish that I crave for. Making sure that I don't deprive myself of anything :)

Am looking forward to a better me, in months time. :)

On-Court Dramas

I'm supposed to take a rest at this time.... lay on my bed and play Jurassica on my iTouch 'til I get to sleep. I had to get off from work early this afternoon 'coz I wasn't really feeling so well. But upon learning of the news that Danny Ildefonso and Marc Pingris were slapped with a 1-game suspension by the PBA Commissioner, I couldn't help but to express my sentiments on what occurred at last night's Game 2 of the PBA Finals and at 11:15 pm, am still awake and doing what I feel like doing.

First, Ronald Tubid's elbowing Olsen Racela on the face. Yes, basketball is a physical game but, being physical is different from being dirty. Actually, it's not the elbow incident that I want to point out, it's the attitude that Tubid shown during the feud between him and Racela. It only showed why this Ginebra player is deserving of the Best Actor award. After he was called for a charging foul and Racela couldn't keep his cool, Tubid tried to get the crowd's sympathy by being "apologetic" of what he has done. But being a 16-year PBA veteran, Olsen just did not buy that. Getting a nasty bruise on his face and getting a not-so-sincere apologies from Tubid, he definitely knew how to react in a professional way. Hitting that baseline jumper is the best way to put a period on what had happened. And if Tubid was really sincere in saying sorry, why was he still trashtalking at the sideline?

Second, Ildefonso's and Pingris' suspension in tomorrow's Game 3. The game was over then, when Danny I hurriedly ran to the opposite goal and almost hit this BGK fan. Pingris followed. Everybody was in shocked and wondering what initiated these players to go after this man. Different stories have been told, but in the end, missing these 2 key players on the next game will create a big impact on the team's bid to the trophy. Pingris was just named the Best Player on last night's game and Danny has been playing above expectation.

After digging into some forums and news articles, curiously looking for anwers to my question on why Danny furiously attacked this BGK fan, only 1 reason came out: this die-hard BGK fan provoked Danny by cursing her daughter to death. Danny's daughter, Sophia, has cancer and is undergoing medical treatment.

Some says, Danny's reaction to go after the man was a no-no. No matter what the reason was, he should have not done that. He is a professional and veteran player and he must know how to handle such case. But, hey! Isn't he also a father, who despite his daughter's condition, was able to perform his duty as a professional player? Yeah sure... everyone gets boo-ed at one point or another... but this is different, he wasn't just boo-ed, his daughter was cursed by this man who happened to be a fan of a losing team, who couldn't accept his team's defeat and couldn't think of anything to distract the player except by going too personal. To think that this is just the 2nd game and his team is not behind neither... it's tied!

Are we expecting more dramas?

God Wants You to Know....

On this day of your life, Candy, we believe God wants you to know...
... that it is time to finally forgive yourself.

You've carried the guilt, the shame for long enough. You've kept your wounds open for long enough. The time has to come to let go, to heal. Keep the lessons and let the pain heal. Yes, you know what we are talking about.

God Wants You to Know......

On this day of your life, Candy, we believe God wants you to know...
... that today is a big day for you.

Yes, today. Keep your eyes open for a message. It might come in a shape of a bird flying overhead, or a graffiti on a wall, or a phrase said by a passerby, or... Whatever shape it has, this message has been trying to reach you for years, and today is finally the day. Keep your senses open.

The Great Singapore Sale

The much-awaited season of the year has just started...... The Great Singapore Sale is here! Discounts, freebies, promotions are everywhere.... from Coach Bags to Guess.... Zara to Giordano... name it and they have it!

This annual Singapore event will run for just 8 weeks but sad to say, I still have to wait 'till next year (if I'd still be here) to finally feel what SHOPPING in SINGAPORE really means. My earnings until middle of next year are already planned for something more precious.

Prada, Coach, Lacoste and CK..... please wait for me, oki? :D

God Wants You to Know......

On this day of your life, Candy, we believe God wants you to know......
that humans learn only by trial and error, and that includes you.

You've got to live life, not think about it. Step into the midst of things, try and fail and learn and stand up again. The question is not whether you will or will not make mistakes - you will. The question is do you want to learn and grow, or do you want to shrink back and be stuck? Take that step you've been avoiding. You can succeed, or you can get feedback that it didn't work, but in either case you are sure to feel alive.

Lacoste and Crocs

Yesterday was the start of the CROCS 3-day sale in EXPO. My colleague, Weng and I enthusiastically decided to come over after office. 30 minutes before our usual time off, we left the workplace and excitedly walk towards EXPO. It surprised us to see that there was no more a long queue of patrons trying to get inside, contrary to what I personally witnessed during its last sale a few months back and what our other officemate told us earlier. In no time, we were already inside the venue. While browsing thru all the displays, digging deeply into the boxes full of sandals and shoes, I found the reason why the buyers were only few.... there were no more enough stocks left!!!!!! Limited models.... limited size.... arrrghhh!!!!

Lesson learnt : during Crocs sale, be at the venue 2 hrs before it opens.

While roaming around, I found this Sporty Adara which perfectly fitted my right foot at size 6. Yes, just the right foot 'coz the partner was missing. I searched for it for about 30 minutes but luck was not on my side. When Weng was done buying 3 pairs for her son and equally frustrated as I was 'coz she couldn't find her size for her fave model, we just decided to surrender and just pay for what we'd got. I still grabbed a pair of Ithaca for my father anyway.

I'm not really a fan of Crocs, I just wanted to have a new pair of flip-flops that I can use at anytime of the day. But since I got attracted to this Sporty Adara, the moment I saw it, I went to Crocs store at Marina Square this afternoon and looked for it... sale or no sale hehehe....

But before that, I went inside of Royal Sporting House at Suntec to check if there are still Lacoste shoes on sale. Actually, this store never ran out of Lacoste sale, its just that at times, the models do not satisfy my taste. But this day was different. To make the long story short, I bought a new pair of Aven Rainbow *wink*

Going back to Crocs, at the store, I asked the salesman if they had the model I'd been searching for... and his reply : "sorry ma'am, no more stocks... already phase out". HUH?!?!? My frustration got worse upon hearing it. So I just asked, "where are your new arrivals?" He pointed to this display which has 5 different colors. I took the pink one, tried it and it looked good on me. I asked if I could get a new stock. He checked at the stock room but then again, what I was holding turned to be the last pair for my size. I proceeded immediately to the cashier and paid for it. In just a span of an hour, I now have two pairs of footwear hehehe...

After Bora

March 24

Hair Make-over and Bonding with the Marekois. My appointment with the hairdresser is at 1pm in Vito Cruz. This is the first time that I would try a different parlor to do my hair rebond. Just want to try something new this time and after months of researching over the net, I found Weng of
Affascinante. But before getting there, I quickly dropped by at SM North Edsa to purchase PBA tickets for tomorrow's game: SMB vs. BGK at the Big Dome.

And as usual, it took me 6 looonnnggg hours to get my hair rebonded plus a haircut. What else is new, anyway? Just after the session, I took a cab and headed to Greenbelt 5 to meet my marekois for dinner. With Jhie coming late again and meeting Bryce, their new gimik buddy, the night was filled with everything: Dinner at Chili's and some booze at 360.

and ended the night at Jhie's place with Singapore sling :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
March 25
PBA Day. Got home just before the clock strikes at 12nn. Rested for a while and went out again to watch PBA at the Big Dome. Had merienda at Pancake House before gametime which is at 7:20pm. And as expected, the Dome was filled with fanatics from both teams. I was again at my usual self, madly screaming and insanely cheering for my team. The result: SMB wins again :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
March 26

Shopping. The whole day was spent at Trinoma and SM North Edsa. Period. hehehehe....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
March 27
Team Manila and Videoke. Today is my last gimik day set at Maru in Jupiter St. Thanks to Olive and the rest of Docs Team for organizing this. Before meeting them at Teloworks office, I went first to Team Manila store in Jupiter St. to buy shirts and here are some of them:
And the party started:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
March 28

Panic-Buying. Still have a lot things to buy for myself and pasalubongs. I went again to SM North Edsa for the last minute shopping. Thank God I was able to manage the little time I had left. Last dinner with the family was like a fiesta and at this moment, I am very thankful and grateful for the 2 weeks that I spent here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
March 29
Departure. My flight is at 2:45 pm and it was only my nanay who came with me at the airport since my father and brother had to report for work today. I did not oblige them anyway. Actually, I did not want anyone to come with me but my nanay refused. While waiving goodbye at the airport, tears were present again. But this time, those were tears of happiness that I was able to spend quality time with family and friends and looking forward to more of it.
