TinTin - thank you for that silly question once you popped.. "ikaw ba ang nagpapa-complicate?", which started it all... thank you for tolerating my stupidity and yet you've shown me that life, indeed, has many choices... thank you for being my kakampi...

Shared Services and Tools Dev Christmas Party

Aside from the Company Christmas Party, we also had our team party held in Astoria Plaza Hotel in Ortigas. After a not-so-busy work on the 14th, Alan, Billy, Toti, Arcy and I went to the Hotel and met the rest of the guys there. The place was cool and spacious, enough for all of us. We ordered our food from Ambers (suki na 'to kahit sa ephil pa ko hehehehe....) and Toti was generous enough to order 2 large pizzas from Yellow Cab. After dinner, Nina, Alan and Rael led the fun games. We were divided into 3 groups and each group composed a cheer that I guess set the mood for the whole night hehehehe.

The games played were Pinoy Henyo, Charades and Paper Danz. Kinabag ako sa katatawa!!! Hahahaha!!!! In the end, Francis' group emerged as the winner. Congrats!!! :)

And here's our team pictures:

*By this time, ePhil is also having their Christmas Party. God knows how I wanted to be with them, if only I could be in two places. I miss you all guys but I'm pretty sure you'd be happy to know that I also had a great time with my new buddies here. You guys are all wonderful!!!! mwaaahhhhh!!!!

And the traditional "Exchange Gift" came next:

I wished for VCDs of Superman I and II and I'm so thankful that my Mommy Tia Pusit granted it, thanks! :) My baby was Zaldy Zschornack (did I spell it correctly?), he asked for a mouse pad with wrist support :). Merry Christmas!!!! :D

And now, it's time for the real party!!!!!

Lawson Christmas Party

"Music Genre" is the theme of this year's Lawson Christmas Party. It was a month ago when the committee announced the groupings and their respective music genres. As for the Shared Services and Tools Development teams, we got the Reggae together with 2 other groups. This means that we will be attending the party in Reggae outfits. Also, there is a music video-making contest wherein the groups have to create a music video based on their genres which will be presented on the night of the party.

Anyways, I wasn't really excited for the party, though I wouldn't want to miss my first Christmas party here. I never planned to wear a Reggae outfit since I didn't have one and I didn't want to buy a clothing that I will only use once. Wasn't really worried about the costume thingy until an officemate of mine asked me what I would wear in the party. I said, maybe I'll just buy a cap/bonnet that has a Reggae touch. Then she gave me this link wherein I could get some ideas for the costume. And when I first saw this top, oh my gawd... I wanted to buy it right then and there. I fell in love with it instantly!!!!

Together with Arcy, I went to Glorietta, SM and Landmark to look for a top similar to this. We found some shops that sell Rasta accessories but unfortunately, no women tops :( A salesman from Landmark told us that there is a Bob Marley shop in Ali Mall Cubao and we might find there what we were looking for. The following night, I went to Cubao to look for that shop. But then again, I did not find such store huhuhuhuhu.... That's when I decided to go for my plan B, just buy a batik top in SM. I went to SM North Edsa and found this batik sleeveless top in the Department Store.

Saturday, December 8. The party was held in The Blue Leaf Pavilion in Mckinley Hill. But before going to the party, I met Toti, Arcy and Grace in the office. Some pictures before the party :)

PARTY TIME!!! :)

best shot of the night :)

It wasn't my lucky night, though. Did not get any prizes from the raffle. Lucky those 30??? who were picked from 600 Lawson peeps. Some of the major prizes were MacBook, PSP, Entertainment Showcase, Kitchen Showcase.

The party ended before 12 midnight but the night wasn't over yet. Some of us decided to continue the fun in Malate.

Off to Malate :)

Billy, Giles, Toti, Arcy, Franz, Frankie, Girlie, Ella, Jule and I went straight to Bedrock, Malate. It was my first gimik night with my Lawson buddies and it was fun indeed!!!! After about 4 hours of drinking, chatting, and of course dancing... we moved to Starbucks just across Bedrock to get some coffee. Mine was Espresso and I promised that I wouldn't drink the same again. Why? Because I did not get enough sleep today despite being awake the whole night, aarggghhh!!!! 2 hours of sleep this morning and another 2 in the afternoon.... at nagawa pang mag-balot ng mga regalo huh!

Guys, ulitin natin 'to! :)

* thanks to toti and franz for the additional pics

From Bantay Bata to Hospicio de San Jose

Disclaimer: My intention of writing this is to encourage everyone to help those in need, specially at this time of the year. It took me sometime to decide whether I should create an entry about this. I don't want to be misinterpreted that I'm doing such deed to gain praises... definitely not. All I wanted is to let everyone know that we can help anyone, at anytime. And I hope after reading my entry, you will find time to reach out for the less fortunate, for those who are not as "lucky" as we are.

Since I started working in 2000, I made a vow to share my blessings with my chosen institution every Christmas season. And because I have this "passion" for kids, I have chosen ABS-CBN's Bantay Bata Foundation. But 2 years ago, I started to think of other ways to fulfill my mission. I have thought of going personally to an orphanage and experience how is it like to be with the kids and elders who were abandoned by their families. But I knew then that I couldn't do it alone and maybe, I wasn't too eager and willing to do it. But now, thanks to the Christmas Decor Contest in Lawson that made this life-long dream come true.

The team decided to decor our working area with a theme, "All I Want for Christmas". Since we all agreed that what we wanted for Christmas is to share our blessings with the orphans, we've come up with an idea to give donations to Hospicio de San Jose. We wrapped our cubicles just like giant gift boxes that symbolize our gifts for Hospicio de San Jose. And in a baul, we put our gifts that will be sent to them before Christmas.

I couldn't hide my excitement in going to Hospicio. Believe it or not, one of my childhood dreams is to visit an orphanage, give gifts to the orphans and spend a day with them. Now, this dream will be coming true in a few days. So, my annual budget for Bantay Bata has been shifted to Hospicio de San Jose. I hope next year, I would have enough resources and more time to share with both charities.

Tugade for Threeeeeeee!!!! :)

So tiring yet fulfilling weekend for me. My tasks were accomplished according to plans and what a way to end my weekend and start a new week by watching my favorite team, Magnolia Beverage Masters (formerly San Miguel Beermen) winning over Talk 'n Text Phone Pals. It wasn't an ordinary win guys. After being behind by 24 points in the first half, my team managed to bounce back and with the score tied at 93-all with only 2 seconds left, Lordy Tugade made the big shot of the night by hitting a buzzer-beater 3-pt shot with no time left. Tanggal lahat ng pagod ko this weekend :)

Christmas Shopping Part 2

After attending a mass this morning and doing my semi-monthly grocery shopping, time for another gift hunting. Thank God I found this store where I can buy gifts for my male officemates. It's been giving me headache actually. I mean, gifts that are useful for them, yet affordable. Whew! But the Christmas-related to do's are not yet over, I'm not even half of it. Tomorrow, I need to look for 3 more gifts before I can say that my gift hunting is complete. Also, I need to find stuffs that I can wish for, for our kris kringle. I have ideas in mind but it would be better if I could provide a more detailed description so that it would be easy for my mommy/daddy to look for it. Haaayyy... paskong-pasko na talaga.. :)

Christmas Shopping

Just got back from my first batch of Christmas shopping this morning. Next batch will be tomorrow and I'm praying that I could finish it all so I could concentrate more on the upcoming parties. And you know what guys, at this time of the year, I always feel so proud of myself because I have this super talent in budgeting :) I get to save lots of moolah but still able to give the best gifts that I could give to my friends and loved ones :) Good thing that we already got our 13th month pay last Thursday and it made me feel more comfortable budgeting my finances. I find it easier to allocate my money when I have the exact figures than making estimates (i'm also good in making estimates anyway hehehehe....). So guys, let's go shopping!

Relax Muna

I've been planning to have my first ever Body Scrub with Body Massage 2 months ago pa but it was only this afternoon that I got the chance to fulfill this. Grabeee.... soooo relaxing and I vowed to have this on a regular basis (once a month is not bad).

I arrived at the Godiva Skin Station at 2:30 pm and had my body scrub first. After about 30 minutes of scrubbing my whole body, I had a hot shower with Godiva Green Tea Bath Soap.. ohh la la la.. so refreshing. The much-awaited massage came next and I chose the Relaxing Rose Oil (i hope i got this correct) to be used on my body. Haaaayyyyy....... saraappp....

It lasted for about 1 hour and feeling pretty again hahahahaha!!!!

Just a trivia, I always have this attitude that every time I treat myself, shopping... dining out... or even a simple lakwatsa, I see to it that I always have something for my family. So after pampering myself, I bought 3 dishes from Savory (fried chix, beef with brocolli and hipon rebosado), for our dinner. Para na rin kaming kumain sa labas :)

Beyonce Experience

Eto na, 2 weeks before the concert, I asked Tabel kung gusto nyang manood.

WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! :)

sa car ni tabel, before the concert :)

kapagod ang concert pero sulit!

ang ebidensya ;)

Give Me More Time... Pleaseeeeee........

I want to post a lot of entries here from the time I moved to my new company up to this very moment (5 months din yun huh!). I missed a lot really. But I couldn't find time. So busy with so many things. Don't know where to start hehehehe... I'm in the mood to write, the problem is baka bukas pa ko matapos kapag sinimulan. Hopefully next week, with a long vacation at that, I can spend at least a day to post everything here. See yah! :)

One More Chance

After about 5 months of staying away from gimiks (due to a very horrible experience that I prefer not to disclose as of this moment, later maybe :D ), finally, I got this chance to bond once again with my girl-friends. Met Tabel, Niks and Jhie after office and went straight to Rockwell to watch One More Chance starring Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz. It was my first time to watch a movie with them. Yep, first time indeed! :)

The movie was good, well, story-wise. I cannot comment on its technicalities like scoring, editing, etc. 'coz I'm not an expert at it. All I can say is that the film made me cry... laugh... smile... giggle... and think (over and over). Star Cinema's mastery of creating close-to-reality type of story made me felt like I was one of the characters.

We had dinner at Kenny Roger's and still couldn't get over Popoy and Basha. :P After dinner, we met Aedner and his tropa at Starbucks Greenbelt, had a short chat with them and finally, Niks, Tabel and I went to Cena for a few rounds of Frozen Gin Pomelo :).

Had a very heartwarming (hihihihihi...) and meaningful conversation, talking 'bout relationship, career, family and many more. Tabel wanted to sing and we decided to spend more hours in Platinum but unfortunately, the rate was too expensive for the three of us. So, we endep up eating tokwa't baboy in Tiananmen hehehehehe.....

119 --> 110 --> 114 --> 107

It was in May last year when I decided to lose weight. From 119, it went down to 110 in 3 months. I was so proud of myself then and I promised that I won't hit the 112-mark again. Been successful with that until last month, I hit the 114 lbs scale. Gosh!!!! I didn't know what went wrong. I never noticed that change and I was really upset. That's when I started to do regular exercise at home and cut my carb ang sweets intake. Now, I weigh 107 lbs!!!! :) But still, I need to work on my abs to get the perfect look :) Good luck to me!!! :)

My Desktop

My old desktop had its well-deserved retirement last November 1. Actually, it was a "forced" retirement since when I woke up that day and turned it on, ayaw ng mag-boot :( That's when I decided to purchase a new one, hopefully before Christmas since I have a lot of things to do that only the Internet can help me :) After 2 weeks of canvassing thru the help of cyberspace and friends, I now have my new desktop :) Bought the parts and had it assembled in PC Express Monumento branch. I saved around 8K from my first option from another computer store plus I can pay it in 3 months at 0% interest :)
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20Ghz 1G RAM
  • Asus P5GC1333-MX i945GC Vpcie/S/L
  • 17" LG LCD Monitor
And this is the first time that I configured a desktop. Yes, nakakahiya mang sabihin kasi IT professional ako e... pero it was my first time to install OS, configure the drivers, back up my files from my old HDD and many others. I'm so proud of myself.. (*wink*). But of course, all these things were made possible with the help of my friends. Thanks, guys! :)

'di ko pa maayos yung mga cords hehehehe....

From SAN-MI-GUEL to MAG-NO-LIA

From Malaya online:

From Beermen to Beverage Masters

BY NOLI CORTEZ

ONLY the name was changed, not the determination to succeed.

That was how San Miguel Beer management explained the reason for the change in moniker – from Beermen to Magnolia Beverage Masters – of the team that will see action in the 33rd PBA season that starts on Oct. 14 at the Araneta Coliseum.

"We expect the Magnolia Beverage Masters to carry on the winning tradition of the San Miguel Beer team," said San Miguel Beverages Inc. president Robert Huang in a media conference yesterday in which the team’s new name and look was bared.

Bernie Marquez, SMBI general manager for domestic operations, said the players are also expected to act as ambassadors of the firm’s beverage lines that include Magnolia Health Tea and Fruit Drinks as well as Magnolia Pure Water.

Hopes for the team doing well and adding on to the Beermen’s PBA-best 17 championships have not been diluted, however.

Observers believe this team has what it takes to improve on its runner-up finish in last year’s Philippine Cup, its pre-season top seeding brought about mainly by the acquisition of sniper Larry Fonacier and draft picks Samigue Eman and Jonas Villanueva.

They are expected to greatly bolster a lineup already well-stocked with the likes of Danny Ildefonso, Dondon Hontiveros, Danny Seigle, LA Tenorio, Olsen Racela, Wesley Gonzales, Chris Calaguio, Lordy Tugade, Willie Wilson, Gabby Espinas and Dorian Pena, who is expected to be fully recovered and 100 percent game-fit from a foot surgery when he rejoins the team in mid-December.

As is his wont, head coach Siot Tanquingcen preferred to downplay his team’s chances.

"I must admit, this team is loaded with talent," said Tanquingcen. "But traditionally, it’s how a team transfers its strength from paper to the playing court that matters. We still have to do that."

The threats posed by Talk N Text and Alaska should also not be taken lightly, added the two-time champion coach with Ginebra. The only way to do that, he stressed, is to achieve the vital chemistry.

""We have to have everybody on the same page and play our game the way it should be played," Tanquingcen said.

For the record, the SMC team, one of the league’s pioneers in 1975 as Royal Tru-Orange, had played under the brand name Magnolia in the 1984-85 and 1986-87 seasons.

It carried the name San Miguel Beer first in the 1980-81 campaign and, seemingly for good, in 1987-88.

What Do We Mean To Each Other

I'd rather know if you had turned the page
If you go faster than I do
Suddenly it's not so clear just what I am to you
Am I friend, am I lover, do we still need each other
When you touch me, when you touch me baby I can tell
What do we mean to each other, am I friend, am I lover is it over now
If this is it then why bother tell me where do we take it from here
What do we mean to each other am I friend ,am I lover, is it over now
Do you love me still or do you just mean well
I can see clearly how im hurting you
Every breath gives you a way
All we go on separate roads has gone in the way.
Am I friend, am I lover, do we still need each other
When you hold me, when you hold me baby I can tell
What do we mean to each other, am I friend, am I lover is it over now
If this is it then why bother tell me where do we take it from here
What do we mean to each other am I friend ,am I lover, is it over now
Do you love me still or do you just mean well
Time became a poison looking slowly on my home
Screwing all the memories, Is it tearing us apart
When you touch me, when you touch me baby I can tell
What do we mean to each other, am I friend, am I lover is it over now
If this is it then why bother tell me where do we take it from here
What do we mean to each other am I friend ,am I lover, is it over now
Do you love me still or do you just mean well
What do we mean to each other, am I friend, am I lover is it over now
If this is it then why bother tell me where do we take it from here
What do we mean to each other am I friend ,am I lover, is it over now
Do you love me still or do you just mean well
Do you love me still or do you just mean well

Sweet Victory

Being down by 16 midway in the 4th quarter, I thought it was going to be their last game of the season. I started to look at their faces thinking that I might not see it again for a long time. But I guess destiny has its other plans. SMB made a 21-5 attack that cut a once 16-point deficit into just one with 1:18 left in the game clock. BGK had the last possession in the regulation but the sticky and smart defense of the Beermen forced an overtime.

OT higlights:
1. 3-pt plays by Galen Young
2.
A solid block of Wesley Gonzales on a 3-pt attempt of Sunday Salvacion
3.
Crucial offensive rebound of Young after a missed free throw
4.
Pressure-packed foul shots of LA Tenorio
5. 3-pt shot by Chris Calaguio
6. Nealy missed a 3-pt shot when it was badly needed
7. Nealy fouled out of the ballgame ahead of Young who went earlier into foul trouble

It was a sweet victory, indeed!
The officiating during the first 2 quarters of the game was awful. Ronald Tubid had its Oscar-winning performance. Danny Ildefonso was called for a flagrant foul just trying to block Tubid's jumper. Young picked his 3rd personal foul so early in the game and even had its 5th during the last minute of the 3Q. BGK had its run that includes a 2 consecutive 3-pt shots of Rod Nealy in the fourth.

But my Beermen did not give up. Gonzales had the game of his life scoring 10 of his 20 points in the 4Q. An awesome defense that showed Tenorio guarding Nealy that forced turnovers, shotblock of Gonzales off Salavacion's 3-pt attempt, rebound supremacy of Pena and Young.

What a win by the San Miguel Beermen! It was the sweetest victory I've ever witnessed..... LIVE!!!!!

From PBA Website:

SAN MIGUEL PULLS OFF ANOTHER MIRACLE WIN FOR FINAL 4 SEAT
Calaguio, Gonzales star in Beermen’s amazing comeback

Sunday, 17 June 2007

San Miguel Beer pulled off another escape act in a knockout game, completing the brew in the 2007 Talk N Text PBA Fiesta Conference Final Four.

The Beermen joined the Red Bull Barakos, the Alaska Aces and the Talk N Text Phone Pals in the semis mix as they survived a fourth straight do-or-die match on a scintillating 117-114 overtime win over the Barangay Ginebra Kings Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

San Miguel fought back from a 16-point deficit midway through the last quarter and outlasted Ginebra in overtime to advance to the semis against old rival Alaska.

Game One of the best-of-seven semis series is Wednesday in the same venue.

"It’s gonna be exciting. I know coach Tim (Cone) and I know Rosell (Ellis) with whom I’ve had a lot of battles in the US. It’s gonna be a battle," said San Miguel import Galen Young, who’s up against his former team Alaska in the semis.

Young, along with Chris Calaguio and Wesley Gonzales, played a stellar role as the Beermen avenged their loss to the Kings in the recent All-Filipino Finals.

"We fought every step of the way," said Young, finishing the game and completing a swashbuckling performance although picking up his fifth foul with still 46.8 seconds left in the third period.

Gonzales starred in San Miguel’s searing fourth-quarter chase while Calaguio stood tall in the overtime play. Gonzales made 10 of his 20 points in the fourth period while Calaguio scored nine of his 19 in the extension period.

Then there were Dorian Pena and LA Tenorio helping along the way as the Beermen overcame an 83-99 deficit with 6:26 left in the final period.

"It was so special winning that way," said coach Siot Tanquingcen as his Beermen pulled off another Houdini act, practically the same way they survived the Coca-Cola Tigers in the wildcard round.

"It was a heck of a game. There was a moment when we lost our focus and we messed up playing Ginebra’s game. But we regrouped and refocused on what brought us here….. playing no-nonsense defense," Tanquingcen also said.

The Beermen held the Kings in check towards the end of overtime, breaking free from a 111-all standoff to eventually win the contest. In regulation period, the Beermen pulled even at 104-all on an amazing 21-5 run, and the two teams went scoreless in the final 1:18 of play. Calaguio fired a trey to shatter the 111-all deadlock, then after Rod Nealy missed his own three-point attempt, LA Tenorio buried two free throws to all but settle the outcome of the game.

The Kings blew away a chance for a double-championship in the season, and with it went Nealy’s chance for the Best Import award.

Mark Macapagal rifled in a triple at the buzzer and the Kings carried a 56-51 lead over to the second half.
Macapagal and Sunday Salvacion both went 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, giving Nealy valuable support as they enjoyed the lead at the turn despite a tentative start. The Kings trailed by eight, 24-32, at the end of the first quarter and only had their first taste of the lead at 46-45 on a drive-in basket by Ronald Tubid. (NC)

San Miguel 117 – Gonzales 20, Calaguio 19, Tenorio 17, Young 17, Ildefronso 14, Villanueva 9, Adriano 9, Pena 9, Racela 3, Wilson 0.
